"Don't Pick Me Up" is a play on words on my dual experience of being picked up as a child and the parallel, often overlapping, occurrence of the same act as an adult. Women are frequently forced to mature prematurely, and the lines between youthful innocence and adult responsibilities are often blurred.
The grocery bag becomes a symbol representing the commodification of the female body in our society. Drawing from my own experience with unwarranted attention and objectification, particularly the unsettling sensation of being "picked up" as an adult, I confined myself within a plastic bag, with hands pulling at the handles to serve as a metaphor for the pervasive harassment and objectification that persist in our world.
